As increasing numbers of women enter the workforce and strive for greater responsibility, recognition, and influence, they continue to encounter workplace cultures shaped largely by male models of leadership. At the same time, women often carry deeply rooted societal expectations concerning family, caregiving, relationships, and responsibility for others.
The tension is not simply a choice between career and family. It is the more complex challenge of discerning which expectations genuinely belong to a woman and which ones obscure the voice within her calling her toward further development.
Grounded in a Jungian psychological perspective, this work goes deeper than leadership tactics — it is a structured process for women leaders to distinguish inherited expectations from their own developing voice.
Who is leading from within?
Toni Wolff, Jung’s collaborator, mapped four structural forms of the feminine psyche. Each woman names her leading archetype, meets its shadow, and learns to flex into the others — the teaching spine of the LeadHer series.
Leads through care and development of others. The mentor, the culture-keeper, the one people bring problems to.
Leads through one-to-one connection and authentic relationship. The trusted advisor, the confidante of the powerful.
Leads through competence, goals, and independence. The operator, the builder, the one who delivers.
Leads through intuition and reading the unspoken. The one who senses what the room, the culture, the moment actually needs.
Wolff arranged them on two axes — personal relatedness (Mother/Hetaira) and impersonal function (Amazon/Medial). Nobody is one archetype; leadership range is the ability to move among all four.
Separate inherited expectations from your own developing voice — the Jungian core of the work.
